Along with our involvement within the local community there are a number of other local projects of interest on Atauro.

This is a women’s co-operative which produces delightful handcrafted dolls, bags and gifts - Jelia 77855765 — open 3.30 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Saturday. The staff will open on Sundays. Bonecas de Atauro is located in Vila.
2. Biojoias: (Jewelery and gift shop): Hearing impaired workers produce the jewelery and gift-wear from local products such as seeds, shells and coconut shell. They are located across the road from the Bonecas de Atauro factory.
3. Scntro Atauro Di'ak: www.empreza-diak.com
Sentro Atauro Di'ak is a ‘development hub’ specially designed by Timorese NGO, Empreza Di'ak, for communities, particularly youth and vulnerable women, to access the organisation's innovative training, business development, and mentoring services. Empreza Di'ak warmly welcome visitors to the Centre to view and learn more about their business development activities in agriculture, poultry, fishing, handicrafts, and tourism.
The Centre also has a shop selling stunning local handicrafts that provides important access to market and supports the economic empowerment of local communities. The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00am-5:00pm. You can also contribute by purchasing life-improving products at the shop that will be donated to the communities that Empreza Di'ak works with on the Island!
