Diving and Snorkeling:

The Diving and Snorkeling around Atauro Island is absolutely amazing, from stunning shallow fringing reef teeming with fish life just inches below the surface, to the deep walls and pinnacles that appear from the 3000+ meter depths surrounding the island.

From our lodge, we can organise snorkelling trips to the outer protected reef just in-front of our lodge.

The cost of a boat for 1 hour is USD $12.50 total (eg 2 people = $6.25 each, 4 people = $3.25 each etc)

Hire of snorkelling equipment USD $5.00 per trip. (includes mask, snorkel and fins) Life jackets and pool noodles are available and are free of charge.

Entry Fee to protected reef areas: (Tara Bandu donation)

All diving and snorkelling tours to the protected reef area, adjacent to Beloi pier/jetty incurs a USD$2.00 entry fee.

The proceeds from this entry fee will be collected and used at the communities discretion for the maintenance and monitoring of the protected area. Excess funds will be channelled into the local community to assist with families needs, to assist widows and elderly, to purchase supplies for the local community if needed due to drought/disaster and the maintenance of the local water system.

This entry fee of US$2.00 (and any added donations) can be paid at Barry's Place office/reception.
